Week 9 – Stars and Stripes

Can you believe we are up to week 9 of the Friends Around the World CAL?

This week’s designer is Raechel Mayfield. She is a widowed, single mom who has found a way to crochet and design patterns so she can stay at home with her son!
Raechel begin crocheting at a very early age, taught by two of her grandmothers. She put her hooks down for a very long time but decided to pick them up again in November 2014. She took a class on pattern reading and writing and became “hooked” on crochet again. She began writing her own patterns including elements that some of the patterns she had didn’t offer. She included things like notes on sizing notes from her testers, photo tutorials, abbreviation charts, etc. And most importantly, ways to contact her if questions arise in one of her patterns. She has over 70 patterns on Ravelry. Please have a look, she has many lovely designs.

Below you will find the description and pattern link for week 9.

Stars and Stripes
This is a very patriotic square that includes Stars and Stripes as the name suggests. The center of the square features the star surrounded by a basket weave type pattern that makes up the stripes element. The designer say this about her pattern: “It can be created in one solid color or you can change colors and any round. ”

This square is full of interesting elements and a fun pattern to make! If any questions arise, Raechel is always more than happy to help you. 😊

Please post your progress pictures! I can wait to see your work!
Enjoy!!
