****UPDATE 8/18/17: part 7 has been released.****
Summer has arrived and we are readily posting our second shawl in the series, the Lattice Rose Shawl by Stepanie Pokorny.
Stephanie has crocheted a wide number of different items ranging from amigurumi, Halloween costumes, hats, tops, jackets and shawls, of course!
Stephany Pokorny has made these suggestions for yarn substitution:
- Lion Brand 24/7 cotton
- I Love This Yarn Sport
- Any sock yarn
- Hobby Lobby Sinfonia
- Scheepjes Catona
- Bernat Softee Baby
- Bernat Baby Sport
- Stylecraft DK
- Wollfamos 4 ply
- Little Favorites by Rea 4 ply
- Wolltraum 4 ply
- Deborah Norville Serenity Garden
- Premier Cotton Faire
- Lion Brand Ice Cream
- Patons Grace
- Lion Brand Mandala Yarn
- And the new Caron Cotton Cakes! It’s the COTTON cakes, not the original ones. The original Caron COTTON Cakes, although marked as worsted, is actually more thinner. The original Caron Cakes are definitely worsted and will not work!
In her own words she explains the importance of checking your gauge.
“…because the shawl is free in size, a slight variation in gauge is ok. You will still want to CHECK gauge. I tend to crochet on the tighter side, if you choose a slightly thicker yarn and your tension is loose, your item will end up too large. You may have to drop a hook size or two to meet gauge. You must check your gauge.”
