LIFE OF THE SKY Freeform Bag CAL

Part 6:  This is it–the final part. Now for the handles, lining and zipper. I think they are such pretty handles–one of my favourite parts!! Enjoy….

What a sense of accomplishment to finish this lovely bag! Please don’t be shy to share pics this week… and if you’re running behind, no worries!! We will happily help and enjoy pics as you have the time to finish up. Special thanks to the designer, Kate Veselunka, for sharing this lovely project with us!

Part 5: Your bag should really be taking shape now! This week you will finish making flowers for the bottom and sides, as well as work on filling in all those spaces and gaps in between the flowers. We are almost there–you can do it!! Love seeing the pictures and can’t wait to see this week’s updates!

Part 4:  We are half way there!!!! You should see that  the front of the bag is mostly complete. This week you get to make the back!! Tip: It is tempting to fill in all the spaces in between flowers. If wanting to closely duplicate the bag, it is strongly suggested that you wait until Part 5 to fill in the spaces–there are still more flowers to add and they may not fit if those spaces are filled in 🙂

PART 3:  Ready?! Part 3 is here–at the end of this week most of the front of the bag will be framed. Don’t  be concerned about the gaps and spaces. They will be filled in later. Love seeing all the pretty pictures so far and can’t wait to see more this week! Enjoy.

PART 2: This week you will start to attach flowers to the top piece and make more pretty ones! The 6 large flowers from Part 1 will not all be used this week, but some will. The first section of Part 2 is the pattern for 4 medium-sized flowers that are used throughout Parts 2-5 so keep these handy for reference–they are not made all at once but as needed and “joined-as-you-go” on the final round of each! Further down the document you will begin making these flowers and adding them to the bag. Remember, this “pattern” is a guideline–refer to the pictures often for placement if wanting a similar look of bag. Be creative and enjoy!!

LIFE OF THE SKY BAG—Part 1 Final

*******************

Ever admired a beautiful piece of crochet and asked for the pattern only to hear “it’s freeform, so no pattern”? I have. Ever wished you could re-create that piece or something similar? I have. But ever been too unsure to even know how to begin?? I have!!

Kate Veselunka has designed a beautiful freeform bag called Life of the Sky and has worked with us over that last several months to help transcribe this piece of freeform into a pattern!!

I am delighted to be able to finally learn how to do this technique and now have more tools and confidence to try my own pieces. Those of you who have experience with freeform will love using Kate’s flowers in this piece to create your own unique bag. And those of you new to freeform should find enough information in this CAL to be able to make a similar bag. And ALL of us can use a bag for our many projects or just for going out ;).

Please read the info and intro and begin gathering your supplies. The CAL starts Sunday, November 12 and runs weekly until December 17!!
