…Monika Kunneth from Germany! Monika submitted this beautiful photo of her crochet handiwork and it received the highest number of likes. Congratulations!!! Her photo will be featured on our Facebook page as well as on our blog.
When Monika was only was seven years old, she was taught to crochet at school and instantly fell in love with it. During the next several years she made clothes for her dolls and teddybears as well as some cushions for her mum and aunt. Then when she was a teenage girl she taught herself how to read crochet charts and started to make doilies for her beloved granny. Soon she was making them for others too. Unfortunately, as she got older there was less and less time for crochet while Monika was busy with a full time job. For 30 years she set aside her crochet hooks while she worked. It’s only been in the last 4 years that Monika dusted off her hooks and plunged passionately back into crocheting. Her awakening began with Sophie’s Universe by Dedri Uys of http://www.lookatwhatimade.net. Sophie opened a whole new world of crochet for her. She soon learned to crochet with patterns in US and British terms as well as Dutch and Swedish. Since 2015 she has also worked as a translator, translating crochet patterns for several designers. Monika enjoys CAL- Crochet A Long, not only for all the beautiful CALs and other projects, but for the many friends she’s made along the way. There is no doubt about it, crochet is a hugely wonderful part of her life.
Please join me in congratulating Monika on winning our first photo contest. It was a huge success and we look forward to doing more in the future. Stand by!
