Moving along to the next to last part. This is where you are all of those hours start to become a blanket!!! All of the hard work that Anne Vierimaa has put into this design….. comes to life with this amazing, innovative, and just plain stunning join.
Week 7 is the Hortensia (commonly known as the hydrangea flower. These lovely flowers, shrubs, or even small trees, are the most commonly grown flowering plants in private home gardens in the United States. They range in colors from pure white to the deepest purples – and everything in between. While many are specifically bred to bring the multi-tonal hues that most of us recognize easily as the Hydrangea.
These beauties are lovely inspiration for the Hortensia Flower piece you will be making for the “corner joins” of your squares. I have never seen a blanket put together like this before…. and I must say I am in LOVE with it. Once you have added the Hortencia, you are on to the actual join of the squares! This will be done with the Flower Bud Join. And oh my! Again …. something I have never seen before, is so elegant and new to the crochet world (at least for myself and the testers who worked with me in getting this pattern ready for release for Anne).
