(Here is the link to the song this is set to for anyone that hasn’t had to endure hours of “Baby Shark” with a little person 😂)
Now that the song is forever stuck in your head…. let’s move on with the excitement we all had when we saw that photo for the first time for this CAL!!!
Jessica Wifall has taken 3 amazing patterns and created a work of art called “Baby Henry’s Designer Heirloom CAL“. This blanket is a work of pure love, and it shows in every single stitch. As I am sure you can guess from the name, this heirloom blanket creation was made for her oldest son, Henry. The completed instruction/pattern on how to put these 3 well known designs, Overlay Mandala No6 by CAROcreated design, Sophie’s Garden Squaring by Dedri Uys, and Dandelion Border – Overlay Crochet by Lila Björn (Tantsiana Kupryianchyk), together into one piece is an artfully devised plan written out, and provided as a free “pattern” by Jessica for all of us to share in making an heirloom of our own!

Here’s a bit about Jessica and how she came to be a part of the crochet design world:
I was born, raised, and live in Tucson, AZ, in the United States. I have a wonderful husband and two beautiful boys. I have a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Arizona. Until my oldest was born, I designed machines that assisted in cancer diagnostics. Now I care for my two beautiful sons full time.
My grandmother taught me to crochet and knit when I was young, however, I did very little with yarn until late 2014 when I decided to crochet a hat for a Christmas exchange. Then I decided to crochet a blanket and from there it became my primary hobby. I like to create things and enjoy seeing a project come together into a finished piece. The laundry will have to be done again tomorrow, dinner will just be more cleanup in an hour, but when I make a blanket someone will treasure it forever.
In addition to crochet and knitting I enjoy painting, travel with my family, science fiction, boardgames, and random other arts and crafts.
This creation been a long journey, and in such, Jessica would love to see each one created have a part in Henry’s journey as well. When creating your colorway please do have a “think” on a name that you can give your piece. Here is a little request from Jessica: It would make me very happy if when you make your own colorway you would give it a travel or location inspired colorway. For example; “Henry goes to Moab”, “Henry at the Farm”, or “Henry’s Safari”, “Henry’s Journey to ….”. Fill the blank in, or change the location, with where your colorway will be taking Henry on his journey. Will it be the mountains? The ocean? Your home town? A special place you enjoy visiting or would love to visit some day? A place you have created in your mind that lets you escape the world for a time?
Now for the important things:

so the weekly instalments for this cal will be paid instalments?
LikeLike
No. The weekly installments will be free. Only 2 of the patterns needed are paid patterns. The “Dandelion Border – Overlay Crochet” is a paid pattern. And the “Overlay Mandala No6” is a paid pattern. Those 2 patterns must be purchased – as well as a copy of the “Sophie’s Square Up” (which is free) will be used along with the FREE weekly installments for the “Baby Henry’s Designer Heirloom CAL” pattern – which tells you how to use the other patterns to complete the CAL.

How large is this? The name leads me to think it’s baby blanket sized but it looks like it might be larger.
LikeLike
In 4-ply (finger weight?) yarn it is 46″x46″.
LikeLike
In Scheepjes Catona yarn it is 45” by 45” square. Other yarn finished measurements will be available later this week, but will of course be larger than the measurement for dk yarn, and a bit larger still for Worsted / size 4 yarn.

No. The designers may have individual videos available – but as it is a multi pattern cal we cannot provide them for this one.

I have requested to join the CAL – Crochet A Long Facebook Group. I’m hoping that the Baby Henry Blanket from 2019 is still available there. I have the three patterns necessary to use for this beautiful pattern, have downloaded the Introduction, but have been unable to find the remaining weeks’ instructions. Are there links anywhere? (hopefully on the Facebook Group?)
