FATW5 – Week 7 – Protea & Fynbos

FATW5 – Week 7 brings us back to South Africa and Lana Ignjatovic, with Protea & Fynbos. The Protea is the national flower for South Africa and is also known as “sugarbush”. The Fynbos is found in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape providences of South Africa. It is a type of vegetation that is mainly shrubs and reed type plants. It is a Floristic Region that is famous for it diversity and the breathtaking beauty of the numerous wildflowers of which it includes. Table Mountain is home to this stunning floral exhibit and a special place to Lana. These are the inspiration for her square this week and I can certainly see why!!!

This weeks square is also a “3 dimensional / 3D” square. The center of the design is not flat. It is worked in an asymmetrical manner which gives the conical shape to the Protea as seen in the photo above.
