For those of you who are long time members of the group you might remember a Christmas CAL from a few years ago. After Christmas was over Santa came and gathered all the patterns up and put them in his magic bag on his way back to the North Pole. Well, we are in luck! He dusted them off and has given them back to us. AND he’s asked his Elves Jo, Laurene, Margaret and Silvana if they could design a few more patterns to add to this years CAL and see if we could possibly gather a couple of secret helpers as well! Well when Santa asks, you have to deliver, right?!
We are so excited to start this quick and easy stash buster CAL called Christmas CAL-a-Thon 2020. Starting today you will receive Not 1, not 2, BUT 3 patterns!!!! One will be designed by one of Santa’s Elves ( Jo, Laurene, Margaret or Silvana), then to keep yourself busy, we will offer 2 additional patterns from our secret helpers. The patterns designed by the Elves will be available here in our blog. As for our secret helpers patterns, we will provide links to their blogs and/or Ravelry stores. We will be making ornaments and garland and some other things to decorate your tree and house. If you are looking to have a tree with all handmade ornaments, this CAL is for you!!!
CAL-a-Thon 2020 begins today, Friday, December 11th and will run through Friday, December 25th. You can make them all or just your favorites. Most patterns will be free and we have a few bonus “paid” patterns to choose from. The options are (almost) endless.
We can’t tell you exactly what the pieces are…. it’s a surprise! Shhhhhhhhh…… I will give you a few hints though. You can decorate your tree, make a wreath for your door, or make a garland to hang on the mantel!!!
The actual supply list is a little longer than you’re used to, but is full of options and won’t break the bank either. Almost all of these items can be found in your local Dollar Tree craft and holiday sections as well. It’s totally up to you on what you choose to use. You can use everyday household items or if you *NEED* an excuse to run to Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnne Fabric and Crafts, or your local craft/hobby store, you can get some of the items on the supply list, otherwise, improvise and use what you have around your house. The yarn needed is actually not that large in quantity, and if you have a stash, you most likely have it already. You can make them in the colors we have used or you can use the colors that match your Christmas theme this year.
Yarn: worsted weight (most), dk or thread
- White (must have for several projects)
- Or any colors you use to decorate for Christmas (Jo used a variegated yarn in almost all of her projects)

Christmas beads (the long strand that looks like Mardi Gras beads, used as a garland on tree)
Tiny wooden spools and wooden clothes pins both in a variety of sizes

- (can be found at hardware store, Hobby Lobby, or made with wire wrapped around an object several times if not available at your craft store choice, you can also use different size key rings)
