For Strip 3, we travel to beautiful Johannesburg, South Africa where Cindy Sheblom of Cindy’s Crochet Designs resides. Her contribution to this CAL is called Cranberry Crush, and is such a pretty pattern. The pattern is in overlay mosaic and includes written directions as well as a chart.
Let’s find out more about Cindy.
She has been crocheting since she was around 12 years old. Her mother taught her how to knit (which she loved) but she wanted to crochet, so she sat down with a magazine and taught herself the basics. Fast forward many years later, she fell in love with mosaic crochet after doing a CAL in 2018. She says it’s definitely becoming an addiction! Cindy owns a yarn store that opened its doors in 2015. This keeps her busy during the day but also gives her loads of time to crochet and design.
During one of the first lockdowns implemented in her country, her son suggested that she try and design a pattern of her own. In February 2021, her first pattern was released on Cindy’s Crochet Designs, and was named after her mom, Nadine. If you look at her site, you will see such really beautiful patterns and check out Nadine as well. It really is a beauty.
Wouldn’t it be great to own a yarn store! I may not be too productive though, I would be walking around and touching everything! 🙂
Let’s see how our Marvelous Makers worked this one up. Hopefully you are getting inspiration from their color choices. You can also see how their blankets are coming along with the addition of each strip. Our Makers have truly worked very hard on this. First, they made the one repeat strips to “test out” the pattern again, and then some went on and either made a blanket, or are still working on one. We are always working behind the scenes so that you can all enjoy this fully.
You will find the pattern to Cranberry Crush in two places, at her own site and on Ravelry:
If there are issues with this link you can access pattern on Ravelry by searching Cranberry Crush. That will work.
If you are not a member of the Facebook Group CAL – Crochet A Long, you can request to join here and then join the event. You will be able to get to the Event if you are a member. Do continue to share your photos.

Also, if you like what you see here, do be sure to explore this blog. There are so many great patterns that have been published throughout the years. This year for the Friends Around the World CAL (FATW6) we went with mosaic crochet. Other years we had squares. The designers have never disappointed us. All patterns are truly beautiful. So, look around! Your next project or gift to someone special may be here.
Enjoy the rest of your week and come back on Thursday for our next strip. These trips around the world are a great way to get around lately!
