FATW6 – Adventures in Mosaic Crochet – Geometric Theme – Strip 6 – Ancient Tiles by Ana Morais Soares

We are now at strip 6! This beautiful mosaic pattern, Ancient Tiles, is coming to you from Ana Morais Soares, who resides in beautiful Portugal. As many of you may already know, Ana is the designer behind One Skein of Love and has also published a book with some of her designs. All gorgeous blankets! She is super talented and very sweet!

Here is her bio:

I am Ana and I am a Portuguese crochet designer and a lifetime creative. I design under the name One Skein of Love. I live in Cascais, a small village near the sea, close to Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, with my husband, 2 kids and 2 awesome cats.

I took the first steps in crochet at the age of 8, guided by my grandmother, who forced me to frog every wrong stitch, or all stitches badly made. In my adolescence, I put crochet aside and devoted myself to knitting, but the crochet bug was always there. It came out again some years ago.

In 2020 I released my first crochet book – “Cosy Crochet Blankets to Snuggle Under”. It contains 15 blankets patterns, using different crochet techniques.

Besides crochet and knitting, I also love to sew and quilt.

My crochet designs can be found here:

Always a busy lady, Ana Morais Soares has her own CAL coming up on September 23rd. Here’s a look at her full blanket, Geometrics. She definitely puts a lot of effort and love into her work. This is stunning!

For more details be sure to follow her on social media, all links included in her bio. For now, enjoy making Ancient Tiles as part of your FATW6 Geometric blanket from our awesome designers around the world!

Once again, here are the works from our Makers. The blankets are getting bigger and more beautiful with the addition of each strip. The small strips are what we were making when we first got the patterns so those are only one repeat. We have seen so many people just starting out with mosaic by using these patterns, and then getting totally addicted! Yes, it really is that easy! As you work your blankets keep in mind that there are 14 strips in total. You are welcome to choose how many you want in your blanket. Also each strip would work very well on its own as a scarf even!! (Maybe do 4 or 5 repeats depending on the length you want.) So, do not be intimidated. Give it a try if you are hesitating. It is definitely well worth it.
