Today’s pattern release is strip 6, British Columbia Dogwood by Lucille Schubert. It is such a pretty pattern and the flowers will look great in any color. Here is what we have learned about Lucille:
“I was born and raised in Northern British Columbia, Canada. I chose to do the Dogwood as
part of Friends Around The World 6th Anniversary CAL, to represent where I am from in our world!! In
Northern British Columbia the Dogwood is plentiful and can be seen all over in the woods. In 1956 the
Dogwood (Cornus nuttallii) became the Floral Emblem for British Columbia. Then later, in 1988 the
Dogwood tree was chosen as British Columbia’s official tree. The tree was chosen to celebrate the 75th
anniversary of the Forest Services of British Columbia. I am a stay at home Grandma, I have 3 children,
and I am raising 2 of my 3 grandsons. I learned to crochet when I was 8 years old, by a friend of my
mother’s. At that time I mostly made clothing for my Barbies. Through the years I have made many
different crocheted items, the most momentous being to crochet fans with flowers for my bridesmaids,
maid of honor and the flower girls, as well as, little baskets for candies for my wedding. When I was in
Elementary School, as part of art class, I helped teach my classmates to crochet. I have a great love for
art in all of it’s forms. One of my passions is photography, I actually adapted one of my snowflake pictures for a panel in my Christmas Creat-A-Ghan pattern. Thank you so much to everyone for joining us in this CAL!”
Here are links to Lucille’s social media. You really have to see her other designs to see how amazing they are. Her patterns include interlocking filet crochet as well as overlay mosaic. Truly works of art.
