What could be more fun for nap time than a toy spaceship and a blanket all rolled up into one??? Lisa Ferrell, from My Fingers Fly has created this delightful pattern as part of her Nap Buddies collection and is releasing it as a CAL. You’ll want to surely check out Lisa’s blog to see all the other fun Nap Buddies she’s created.

The Rocket Nap Buddy CAL will begin on September 26th with the granny squares for the blanket. The granny square blanket depicts stars in space and measures approximately 38″ long by 33” wide. After naptime, the blanket is rolled up and fits inside the rocket which measures approximately 25” long.

Materials needed include worsted weight yarn in Navy Blue (21 oz), White (9 oz), Gray (2 oz) and Baby Blue (13 yards). You’ll need a size H (5.0mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, 18″ zipper, foam interfacing and appliqués (as desired).

The first person to finish the CAL will get a free ebook of all the nap buddies. We’ll post links to all the nap buddy patterns and have them half price for the duration of the CAL.

Lisa was inspired for this project by her fascination with space which began when she was a child growing up in Texas. Every space launch found her mesmerized as she watched the portable TVs that were brought into her classrooms so the students could watch the launches live. It seemed everyone wanted to be an astronaut. Unfortunately, Lisa did not land a career with NASA but her fascination continues.
