I’m so VERY excited to tell you about a very EXCITING and SPECIAL opportunity coming to CAL – Crochet A Long . Its the first in a series of month long “Events” that will begin on October 14 and run for 4 weeks ending on November 11th. We are calling it Belinda’s CAL Corner – Original Patterns that are a Joy to Make.
Belinda has been hard at work, behind the scenes, designing 4 original and beginner friendly patterns for us!! I believe they will make a great gift set {{{or a warm and fashionable winter set you can make for yourself. }}} I cannot tell you exactly what ALL the patterns are as this is sort of a Mystery CAL (MCAL) so you will have to trust us. We won’t lead you astray though, I promise. 🤞🏻We will, however show you a pic of the very first piece, just to give you an idea of where the CAL is headed.
Depending on the month and design, there may be one pattern or there may be multiple to make a set.
Here’s a little a sneak peek for our very first Belinda’s CAL Corner pattern.

How will it work?
1. There will be a post in CAL – Crochet A Long with a link to the monthly EVENT. Follow that link.
2. Once in the event there will be a sign up post…. Add your name to the post.
3. You will have access to the first pattern in the event. All patterns during the event are offered for free.
4. Once you have finished the first project, you will need to submit a photo of your finished piece. You will add a picture as a comment on a designated post in the EVENT. You will then be added to a secret chat with the next pattern details.
I hope that you all are as excited for this as I am!
Rules:
1. Have fun, be kind and supportive.
2. If you want to participate in the next months challenge then you’ll need to finish the current project in the monthly challenge to be able to join the next challenge. That is, complete the first free pattern of the challenge and post a finished picture in the designated post in the event. It is up to you to decide if you will make all or some of the other patterns in the set for the month. But it you must complete the first pattern in order to join the next challenge. If you did t participate in the previous challenge, then you are free to sign up for the current months challenge. Make sense?
3. Don’t share the pattern with anyone. You can share photos, make multiple of the projects if you. I only ask that you don’t share the pattern with someone outside our group or who isn’t in the event. This would be in violation of copyright laws. The copyright belongs solely to Belinda Dunt. If you have a friend who would like to join the challenge, by all means, please give them the link to our group and the link to the current event! We’d be more than happy to include them! The more the merrier!!! ❤️
Just another little sneak peek:

Belinda has written a brief bio so that our members can get to know her a little bit better:
“I’m so excited to be given the opportunity to join forces with CAL – Crochet A Long. I am 45 years old. I have been married to my wonderful hubby, Grant for 21 years this October. We have 3 sons, Leon 19, Baylee 19 and Tyler 16. No Leon and Baylee are not twins…. My husband and I had 23 known miscarriages (due to what I later learned to be a gene deficiency) prior to having Leon. Leon was birth with multiple issues and we found out that Baylee was there when Leon was 11 weeks old…. Well, they say go hard or go home… So Baylee was born 10 months and 3 days after Leon joined our little family. A few more miscarriages until Tyler decided to settle in with our crazy bunch.
We live in country, South Australia. So our time zones are different from most others, however, my hubby and I own a taxi service so that keeps us busy and means really long nights.
I started crochet about 8 years ago. I wanted to learn for ages. My Grandma tried to teach me when I was about 16, mainly because she was sick and tired of picking up my lost stitches in my knitting. She figured that seeing as my knit was holier than her crochet I might be better at that. But, I was a 16 year old who knew everything and remember having an issue with something starting as circle that with the wave of a magic wand turned into a square – I now know she was talking about a granny square!!!
Years later, I was doing craft as stress relief with another friend. She wanted me to teach her how to knit and she knew how to crochet. We decided to teach each other. I remember thinking I’ve got this (once again talking about a granny square). I went home and did another one, only to be shattered that I made a cloud instead.
I was sharing my new found passion in crochet with a friend via messenger all the way in the UK and was once again stuck on how to turn a corner on a granny square. He asked his beautiful wife to explain it to me and that penny dropped.
I followed a lot of YouTube videos on how to do different types of crochet. I joined a local group of ladies who met every Saturday at a local café and spent the afternoon chatting, drinking, eating and hooking…. About 3 years ago I was given the opportunity to start designing and now crochet is not only my stress reliever, my escape, my passion but my life.
I will be hosting events in CAL – Crochet Along under the title Belinda’s CAL Corner… In this I will be hosting events each month where you will learn new techniques, stitches and projects. I invite everyone to join in on the fun and look forward to taking this next chapter along with each and every one of you. Hold on tight and let the journey begin!”
Thank you for trusting us on this CAL journey and for CAL’ing with us! Belinda and I are really looking forward to an exciting time ahead! We cannot wait to see your color selections and finished projects!!!
Happy Crocheting!
